Ndume Speaks On Race For National Assembly Leadership

The Senator representing Borno South in the National Assembly, Ali Ndume, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership has urged the lawmakers-elect to shelve their ambitions to vie for the leadership positions in the 10th National Assembly.

Ndume, in a chat with The Puch, said the party leadership urged the lawmakers-elect to ensure that the party emerged victorious in the forthcoming governorship and state assembly elections scheduled for march 18.

“The party appealed to NASS members-elect to play down the leadership issues and focus more on ensuring that we take the election battle to the end. And that is to ensure that we win our states,” Ndume said.

Present at the meeting were APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

Also present at the meeting are Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu; the senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, Ogun East Senator, Solomon Adeola, and several others.

However, President-elect, Bola Tinubu was conspicuously absent at the crucial meeting.

Meanwhile, Tinubu on Monday dismissed reports claiming that he has preferred candidates for leadership of the forthcoming 10th National Assembly.

Naija News reports that the former Lagos State governor made this known while addressing new members-elect to the National Assembly at a meeting organised by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tinubu also charged the legislators-elect not to rest yet over the electoral victories that paved their way to the next National Assembly.

He asked them to go back to work for victory at next Saturday’s Governorship and Assembly elections in their various States.
