Naija News reports that Ogbonna was reportedly kidnaped while driving in his car at Rumuigbo, near Port Harcourt on Monday night when the gunmen forced him to stop and whisked him away with his car.

The candidate’s cousin’s brother, Ifeaka Nwakiri confirmed the incident to The PUNCH on Tuesday morning, saying “They took him with his Mercedes car. We have reported the matter at the Kala Police station.”

Nwakiri said his brother had complained that some persons were on his trail before the incident.

He said the incident happened a few days after his brother came out publicly to deny claims that he collected money to withdraw from the race.

They used his vehicle to whisk him away to an unknown place. We heard this morning that they contacted his wife and told her that he was okay. They did not demand any ransom,” he said.
