Presidential Tribunal Verdict Is Against Reason, Evidence Presented - PDP

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has again raised an alarm about alleged plots by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State to disrupt the March 18 polls.

The coalition claims that the ruling PDP in the state was plotting to infiltrate voting centres on the day of the election with thugs and fake security agencies.

Naija News understands that the group’s Enugu State Chairman, Festus Okafar as gathered by Naija News said all their plans were a bid to rig the election in their favour.

According to him, they have an intelligence report that the PDP is allegedly equipping political thugs to scuttle the March 18 governorship election.

Okafar maintained that the coalition was not making false claims as is evidenced in similar complaints made by some concerned traditional rulers in the state.

It was gathered that the South-East Council of Traditional Rulers on Thursday briefed the press about its concerns over an alleged plot by some desperate politicians to scuffle the forthcoming governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections.

The Chairman of the traditional rulers’ council, HRM Igwe Lawrence Agubuzu was reported to have said the press briefing became necessary as a result of some inflammatory statements by some political actors within the zone.

However, the CUPP Enugu chairman advanced that the traditional council vindicated the coalition by its outcry last week.

Okafor told pressmen on Monday that “The aim is to give the semblance that security agencies are on duty, after which they will provide cover for the thugs to unleash mayhem on the people and then scuttle the process, especially in the stronghold of the leading opposition parties.

“Like we said before, in cahoot with the INEC, the PDP is making desperate arrangements to bypass the BVAS, have their candidates declared the winner and then ask those rigged out to go to court.”

He also claimed that the shift of the governorship polls has given the PDP the chance to indulge in vote buying, noting that “the PDP members are now moving around various wards and polling units doling out cash, ranging from N200,000 to N500,000 per polling unit.

“While giving out the cash, the instruction is that anyone who will not vote for the PDP should not be allowed access to the polling units. The cash bazaar commenced earlier this week.”

He also said his life is being threatened for speaking the truth while noting that “Threats are coming from all quarters but it will not stop us from letting the world know what is happening in the State.

“They have been calling us, issuing subtle threats, but that will not stop us.”
