The Eleshin area at Olomo community in Apete, Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State on Saturday was invaded by armed robbers.

It was reported that the robbers operated with a Point-of-Sale device (POS).

This is coming at the time Nigerians are facing naira scarcity in the country due to the policy put in place by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

According to Punch, the robbers invaded the community around 1 am and used the POS device to transfer money from the victims.

The platform noted that the incident had thrown the entire community into panic as residents are leaving in fear.

One of the residents, who spoke on condition of anonymity said the robber operated freely with POS.

The source speaking on the incident said, “The armed robbers got to the area at the midnight around 1 am. They operated freely. They came with POS and transferred some amount of money, which cannot be specified at the moment, from one of their victims’ accounts. They also transferred an undisclosed amount of money from his wife’s account and left.

“They also went away with two phones, iPhone 11 Pro Max and XS Max.”

The case was said to have been reported at the Apete Divisional Police Command.
