Breaking: INEC Announces Likely Date For Rerun, Bye-elections

The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) has said that the country will fall into disarray if the infornation in the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) is erased.

CNPP noted that president Muhammadu Buhari should not be blamed if the country falls into crisis following the outcome of the presidential and national Assembly elections.

They maintained that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu should be held responsible instead.

The Secretary General of the CNPP, Willy Ezugwu said this on Thursday

He stated this while reacting to the Appeal Court judgment which granted INEC the permission to reconfigure its BVAS for the governorship and state house of assembly elections.

The group noted that if the electoral body end up tampering with the data in the BVAS it would lead to crisis in the country.

They subsequently called on International community to hold the Commission to account should crisis emanate from the forthcoming gubernatorial and House of Assembly Elections.

If INEC ends up tampering with the information in the BVAS machines or erases evidence of what actually transpired during the now contentious presidential election, it may lead to a disaster the country should not be allowed to happen to Nigeria and Nigerians”, the group said.
