2023: Why I Am 'Fighting' With Peter Obi - Soludo

The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi has urged candidates of the party running for House of Assembly seats to brace up for victory.

The former governor of Anambra State stated this on Friday, during a closed-door meeting with the house of assembly candidates in Awka.

Naija News reports that this comes after Governor Charles Soludo threatened members of his constituency against voting for any other political party except candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Soludo issued the warnings while addressing members of Igbo-Uwku/Aguata 2 State Constituency.

Soludo stated that only winners who emerged from APGA will have access to him and also have the opportunity to give advice to him.

According to him, if residents vote for a candidate from another party other than APGA, such person would only be entitled to a monthly salary.

Soludo added that candidates from other parties that emerge winners will lack the opportunity to provide infrastructure to their constituents.

Obi Reacts

Speaking with journalists after the closed-door meeting, Peter Obi said the assembly candidates were advised to ensure they work with the state governor, Soludo when they attain victory.

He added that people should not be afraid of impeachment as LP is only seeking to get things right in Nigeria.

He said: “We are not urging anyone to impeach any other person. We held a meeting with our assembly members, and we are calling on Nigerians to vote for Labour Party.

“We are not asking anyone to impeach anyone. People should not be afraid of impeachment. We only seek to get things right in Nigeria.”
