I Go Out On The Street And People Still Insult Me – Desmond Elliot Cries Out

Nigerian politician and former Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot has lamented over the level of hatred from Nigerians after the comment he made back in 2020.

Naija News recalls that in 2020, during a plenary session at the Lagos state House of Assembly, Elliot while commenting on the ENDSARS protest had referred to the Nigerian youths as children.

The comment had sparked outrage from the youths, who since then have taken it upon themselves to troll the former thespian at any given opportunity.

Speaking on TVC’s Your View, ‘Let’s Talk’, the lawmaker once again apologized for the comment, explaining he made the comment out of emotions.

According to Elliot, the hatred he has received on the heels of the comment was ‘too much’, calling on Nigerians to spread love instead.

I’m still apologizing to those who must have misconstrued what I said. I said I was taken by emotions.

“But, in the end, it still didn’t take away from the facts; the hatred is too much, the polity, the hatred is too much, he said.

The politician also stated that the insults are not limited to social media as he gets verbal attacks whenever he steps out.

“I’m in politics now for eight years and I still stand on the fact that love conquers all. I mean I’ve gone out in the streets and people still curse me.

“But I’m not afraid, I’m not ashamed because they don’t understand the stress that you go through,” he added.
