Huge Crowd As Peter Obi Visits Family Of Murdered Enugu Senatorial Candidate (Video)

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, (LP) Peter Obi on Friday visited the family of the senatorial candidate of the party for Enugu East Senatorial District, Oyibo Chukwu, who was assassinated in Enugu.

Recall that Barr. Oyibo Chukwu was set ablaze and assassinated in Enugu two days before the presidential and National Assembly elections.

Subsequently, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) cancelled the senatorial elections in the zone and rescheduled the polls for the 18th of March, 2023.

The LP candidate was welcomed by a huge crowd who chanted his name as they made their way into late Oyibo’s compound.

Sharing photos from the visitation, the LP candidate tweeted: “I just arrived in Enugu, to pay a condolence visit to the family of late Barr Oyibo Chukwu, the former senatorial candidate of Labour Party, for Enugu East Senatorial zone. I was accompanied by Barr Julius Abure, LP chairman,

LP governorship candidate in Enugu State, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, LP governorship candidate in Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, and Sen. Victor Umeh.”

Meanwhile, Kelvin Chibuzor Chukwu, the younger brother of the late Oyibo Chukwu was elected as the Labour Party candidate for the rescheduled Enugu East Senatorial election.

Kelvin Chibuzor Chukwu emerged as the party’s flagbearer after defeating Uchenna Ogbodo, Chinedu Nneji and Christian Onyeni during the party’s primary election to replace the deceased candidate.

Kelvin Chukwu, who scored 223 votes while other contestants scored nil, vowed to fulfil his late brother’s dreams and make the Enugu East Senatorial Zone proud.
