Champions League: UEFA Confirms Europe Top Five Midfielders Ahead Of Quarter Finals
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) on Friday (today) released its ranking for Europe’s top five midfielders for the ongoing campaign.
The Europe football governing body released this ranking on its official Twitter handle, with Benfica’s star, Joao Mario topping the list of best midfielders currently in Europe based on FIFA.

- Jude Bellingham – Dortmund

- Federico Valverde – Real Madrid
Naija News reports that the list was released as the Champions League Round of sixteen matches gets to a close end, and teams look forward to battling out in the Quater Finals.
Last Tuesday, Benfica defeated Club Brugge 7-1 on aggregate after two-legged matches in the round of sixteen with Mario in the Portuguese midfield.
The Portuguese champions beat the Belgian side 2-0 away in Belgian and thrashed Scot Parker’s side 5-1 in Portugal to book a place in the quarter-finals.
The 30-year-old player scored 273 points to beat his closest rival, Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich, who came second on the list.
Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund scored 194 points to come third, joined by fourth-placed Florentino of Benfica with 175 points and Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde with 172 points.
