Buhari's Minister Reacts As Afenifere Claim Peter Obi Won Presidential Election

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has mocked the Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, over the claim that Labour Party (LP) flagbearer, Peter Obi, won the February 25 presidential election.

Recall that Afenifere had alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) manipulated the presidential election results to favour Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress win (APC).

In a statement released by its National Secretary, Sola Ebiseni, on Wednesday, the organisation said that the results from reputable sources proved that the LP candidate won the election.

Afenifere also supported the decision of the former Governor of Anambra State to challenge the contrary declaration by the electoral umpire.

The organisation also asked people in Lagos to vote for the LP candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, in the upcoming governorship election.

Reacting in a tweet via his verified Twitter account on Thursday, Keyamo said the factional Afenifere can claim the LP flagbearer as its president.

The minister also advised the group to hang Obi’s portrait at its secretariat with the inscription ‘President and Commander-in-Chief of Afenifere’.

He wrote: “In that case, this factional Afenifere is at liberty to hang Peter Obi’s portrait at its secretariat with the inscription ‘President and Commander-in-Chief of Afenifere’.”
