Nine-Year-Old Survives Lagos Train Crash, Mother In Critical Condition

A nine-year-old boy, identified simply as David survived the train accident that occurred on Thursday in the PWD area of Lagos State.

Naija News had earlier reported that a BRT bus in the early hours of Thursday was crushed by a train.

The incident led to the death of six passengers while several others sustained different degrees of injury.

David was seen with a bruise on his face while lying in one of the beds placed under the tents provided for the victims on the premises of the surgical emergency at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.

A victim of the accident who sustained a minor injury and spoke on condition of anonymity with Punch said David was sitting beside his mother on the bus when the incident happened.

According to the victim, David’s mother was badly injured and is currently in the intensive care unit.

He said, “David attends a school close to the secretariat and he joins his mother every morning. He was sitting beside his mother on the bus when the incident happened.

“We were brought here together but her mother was badly injured and is currently in the intensive care unit. Her case is very critical and I hope she survives it.”
