A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has slammed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, over the postponement of the gubernatorial election.

Naija News reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced in a statement on Wednesday night that the elections would not hold on March 11th as earlier scheduled.

According to the electoral umpire, the gubernatorial elections would now take place on the 18th of March, 2023, following the court ruling on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

INEC also disclosed that governorship campaigns would continue until midnight Thursday, 16th March 2023.

Reacting via his social media page, Dele Momodu expressed curiosity about how the electoral body could postpone the governorship election and could not wait a few days to perfect the just concluded presidential race.

He also questioned the INEC Chairman on the reason he was in haste about the election rather than creating a good name for himself.

He said: “It is just curious how come the same INEC that could postpone the Gubernatorial elections could not wait a few days in order to perfect the Presidential race and make a good name permanently for itself?

“Where was PROFESSOR MAHMOOD YAKUBU rushing to for God’s sake?”
