Policeman Commits Suicide Over Wife's Extramarital Affair

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 17-year-old boy, Elijah Akinrinlola, who was discovered dead five days after he went missing.

The Police spokesperson in the state, SP Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed the development to Punch on Wednesday.

The deceased reportedly lived with his father at Bagbe, Ondo West Local Government Area before his death.

He was found hanged on a tree in the community.

Odunlami stated that the Police had already begun an investigation into the incident.

We are actually making enquires from the parents and his friends because what would have led to him committing suicide? We are investigating that,” she said.

Sources who spoke on the development said that several sequences of events led to the teenager’s sudden disappearance and death.

Another source, who gave her name as Helen, said the family thought it was his usual going away from home when he did not return home on the first day.

According to her: “The first day he did not come home to sleep, his family thought it was just what he normally did and were not worried. Then, they began to search for him when they did not see nor heard from him the following day.

He was later found hanging on a tree with a rope around his neck after missing for like five days. The place he was found is close to their street.”
