The leadership of the Rivers State chapter of the Labour Party has kicked against the state’s chairman, Dienye Pepple’s declaration of endorsement of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the state, Siminalayi Fubara.

Naija News reported on Tuesday that the Rivers State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) and the Obidient Movement declared support for Fubara.

It was gathered that the Rivers State Chairman of the Labour Party, Dienye Pepple, disclosed this development in Port Harcourt, the state’s capital.

He said the decision was taken in the interest of equity, fairness and balance in the state.

The Rivers Labour Party chairman was reported to have led other party leaders to endorse Fubara in Port Harcourt.

However, some of the party’s leadership have reacted to Pepple’s decision calling it a sabotage of the party.

This online news platform learnt that some party members and leaders have said the chairman did not speak for the party and that the promise of financial rewards may have compromised him.

The deputy governorship candidate of the party in the state, Sam Kinanee told Channels Television at the party’s campaign office in Port Harcourt that the hierarchy of the party in the state expressed displeasure with the erstwhile chairman of the state chapter of the party after his press briefing declaring support for Fubara.

Kinanee, who was speaking on behalf of the campaign council, disclosed that the party was in the know of Pepple’s romance with the PDP.

Similarly, the Director General of the Labour Party campaign in the state, Confidence Eke also said even though Pepple’s actions were demoralising, the party would still push on ahead of Saturday’s polls.

He also accused Pepple of sabotaging the party during the presidential election.
