President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reappointment of Dr. Tosan Erhabor as registrar/chief executive officer of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).

In a statement by the Director of Media and Public Relations, Ahmadu Chindaya, the Minister of State for Health, Joseph Ekumankama, said the appointment takes effect from June 9.

Naija News reports that the minister urged Erhabor to continue to build and strive for excellence.

He said: “Your reappointment is a privilege to serve, let it not be seen as a gateway to slumber because it is your final tenure in office. Do not see it as an authority to deviate from what you have been doing.”

Ekumankama, while advising him to work in harmony with stakeholders, added: “Do not forget the responsibilities and expectations of the office. I trust that you would justify the confidence reposed in you by the Ministry of Health and Mr. President.”

Erhabor, while assuring the minister he would continue to improve on his achievements, said: “I will work to assure the Ministry and Presidency that deemed it fit to reappoint me that they did the right thing.”

Naira Crisis

Naija News reports that the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has continued to carry out its activities without giving a direct statement on the naira redesign crisis.

The Supreme Court had approved the use of old N1,000 and N500, and N200 notes as legal tender for ten months.

Last week, the Supreme Court ordered that the old naira notes should be allowed in circulation along with the new notes until December 31, 2023.

The court had said the Federal Government’s naira redesign policy contravened the 1999 Constitution.

While some banks have started giving out the old naira notes to customers, others are waiting for the directive of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
