Chrisland School Pupil Death: Coroner’s Inquest Hearing To Resume April 4

April 4 has been set aside for the coroner’s inquest hearing to investigate the cause of death of Whitney Adeniran, a 12-year-old Chrisland School pupil who passed away abruptly on February 9.

The Chrisland School pupil was said to have died at Agege Stadium during inter-house athletic competitions from electrocution and hypoxia, according to the post-mortem report from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.

Whitney Adeniran’s body was buried in Lagos on Thursday.

During the coroner’s inquest hearing over her demise at Ikeja Magistrate court on Monday, Magistrate Olabisi Fajana set April 4 for the continuation of the hearing after listening to both the prosecuting counsel and defendant.

The lawyer of the deceased’s family, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, informed the court that at the most recent postponed date, the family was unable to provide a witness testimony as requested by the court.

Falana said there was no method for finishing coroner protocols, therefore the Magistrate Registry was unable to enroll the witness statement.

Mr. Olukayode Enitan, SAN, and Mr. Akin George, attorneys for Chrisland School and the state, respectively, asked the court for instructions on how to submit their procedures in support of Falana’s argument.

Enitan informed the court that to conduct an objective analysis of the autopsy report that was on file, he required samples and resources.

Falana retorted that they hadn’t been served and informed the court that the deceased’s autopsy had been performed in front of the school administration and other interested parties.

The state had just recently received a letter—not an application—but George, the state’s counsel, assured the court that the state would respond when it was necessary.

Fajana pushed up the trial’s start date and gave the attorneys till April 4 to deliver and confirm their papers.
