Major Governorship Candidates In Enugu State

The Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, ahead of the 2023 governorship election in the state, would be hoping to handlm over power to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor Ugwuanyi who was defeated by the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Okechukwu Ezea in his senatorial ambition would be mindful of losing the state to the opposition at the governorship election.

The presidential candidate of the LP, Peter Obi, who won in the state during the presidential election, had enhanced the presence of the party and this could rub off on the governorship candidate of the party, Chijioke Edeoga.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) would be hoping to win the state which has been ruled by PDP in the past years.

The governorship race in the state is majorly between the governorship candidates of the PDP, APC and LP.

Below is a highlight of major candidates that are eyeing the Enugu State governorship seat.

Labour Party Governorship Candidate (Chijioke Edeoga)

– Chijioke Edeoga is a Nigerian journalist, politician and Lawyer.

– He is a former commissioner for the environment in Enugu.

– Edeoga had initially contested the governorship ticket under the PDP, but he lost to Peter Mbah.

PDP Governorship Candidate (Peter Ndubuisi)

– Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is a Nigerian maritime lawyer, financial analyst, and politician.

– He is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Pinnacle Oil and Gas Ltd.

– Mbah is a native of Owo in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu state, Nigeria.

APC Governorship Candidate (Uchenna Nnaji)

– Nnaji who is a businessman, is from Akpugo, in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
