The Chairman Senate Committee on Army, Senator Ali Mohammed Ndume, has disclosed that Boko Haram terrorists have now devised a new method of infiltrating villages to carry out deadly attacks.

Naija News reports that the lawmaker who had just won re-election at the just concluded National Assembly elections told newsmen on Wednesday, March 1, that the terrorists now disguised in women attires to attack local communities in Borno State.

Ndume disclosed further that Boko Haram now manufacture local bullets for use in attacking communities. The lawmaker alleged this while lamenting that insecurity was the reason for poor voter turnout in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

According to him, the terrorists took advantage of their new style and attacked his community, killing one person and injuring five others on election day.

Senator Ndume, however, commended the troops of the Nigerian Army for their efforts in fighting the insurgency.

According to him, “Now Nigeria Army is averagely equipped compared to what had happened in the past where Boko Haram fighters captured many local government areas in Borno.”

Ndume alleged that Boko Haram fighters intended to prevent elections in Gwoza, and had targeted three places in the area which include an office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Gwoza primary and Ajari.

“We are very grateful for the gallant outing by the armed force and other security agencies in Gwoza, particularly the Battalion commander for showing bravery.

“It took them just about an hour to calm the situation, I want to say that the Nigerian Army is now averagely equipped because I was amazed by the equipment they have when they started firing from the mountain they were able to get their targets from their situation room,” the lawmaker said.

Ndume congratulated All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu, and his running mate and former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, for winning the just concluded 2023 general elections.

He described the 2023 general elections as credible, free and fair. “I know there are some problems with BVAS machines in some places, but we thank God APC emerged victorious,” Ndume said.

He also sympathized with fire victims in the Monday market in Maiduguri, vowing to bring Federal Government assistance to them.
