List Of Governors, Ex-Govs Who Lost National Assembly Seats

Some Governors and former governors lost their bids to go to the National Assembly in the just-concluded elections.

As results continue to trickle in for the elections, below are some of the governors and ex-governors elected on the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who lost their chances to join the 10th National Assembly.

Samuel Ortom

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, lost his bid to represent Benue North West in the Senate. He polled  106,882 votes to lose the election to APC’s  Titus Zam, 143,151 votes.

Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi

The Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has lost the Enugu North Senatorial District election to Okey Ezea, of the Labour Party (LP).

Ezea polled 104, 492 votes to defeat his closest rival, Ugwuanyi of the PDP, who got 46, 948 votes.

Sam Egwu

The former Governor of Ebonyi State and the incumbent Senator representing Ebonyi North, Sam Egwu lost in the senatorial election that took place on Saturday

The PPD senatorial candidate polled 26,569 votes to come third behind Labour Party’s Ejiofor Chukwu, who came second with 42,283, and APC’s Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, who scored 65,863 votes to win the poll.

Gabriel Suswam

A former Governor of Benue State and lawmaker representing Benue North East Senatorial District, Gabriel Suswam, has lost his bid to return to the Senate to Emmanuel Udende.

Suswam of the PDP polled 107,303 votes in Saturday’s election, while Udende got 141,405 votes.

Darius Ishaku

The Taraba State Governor,  Darius Ishaku, has lost the election for the Taraba South senatorial district to the candidate of the APC, David Jimkuta.

Declaring the results of the election on Monday in Wukari, the INEC returning officer for the election Prof. Solomon Adeyeye said Jimkuta polled 85,415 votes to defeat Ishaku of the PDP who polled 45,708 votes.
