The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as the winner of the presidential election conducted in Kebbi State last Saturday.

The former Vice President polled 288,175 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 248,088 votes.

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, emerged third with 10,682 votes while the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, trailed behind with 5,038 votes.

The Returning Officer for the state’s election, Professor Yusuf Sa’idu, confirmed this at the collation centre, noting the total number of registered voters in the state as 1,983,985 while the number of accredited voters is 599,201.

INEC Suspends Collation Of Results In Kebbi As Returning Officer Disappears

Meanwhile, INEC was forced earlier to suspend the collation of results in Kebbi State following the disappearance of a returning officer.

Naija News gathered the returning officer for the Marafa ward in Birnin Kebbi could not be traced since about 2 pm on Sunday.

Before the disappearance, he was asked to step aside and reconcile some discrepancies in the result figures he brought to the collation centre.

That was, however, the last that has been seen of him so far, with the development holding INEC officials at the collation centre to ransom and forcing the electoral body to suspend activities.
