INEC Declares Reps Election Inconclusive In Kogi Polling Units

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu House of Representatives election inconclusive over result differences.

After collating Saturday polls, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Arch Salman Idris, came first with higher votes ahead of his counterpart in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kolawole Matthew.

Idris, as announced by the Returning Officer, Dr Adams Baba, won by 13867 ballots while Mathew came second with 13605 votes.

However, in Kabba on Sunday, Baba said the result difference between the duo was not up to the number of registered voters in the cancelled polling units.

He noted the difference between the margin and cancelled results in two polling units of the federal Constituency.

“The ADC candidate polled 13867 while the APC polled 13605 leaving just 262 votes difference, whereas the number of PVC collected in the cancelled polling units of Iya in Otu ward in Kabba/Bunu LGA (485) and Open Space polling unit in Egbeda ward of Ijumu LGA (100) is more than the difference,” Baba said during a press conference, Naija News understands.

The returning officer, however, failed to mention when the rerun election will be conducted in the affected polling units.
