#NigeriaDecides2023: Malpractice Observed At Polling Unit In Akwa Ibom

Some party agents in Awa Ward 1, unit 5, Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State were caught participating in malpractice after they were seen nudging residents to vote a particular candidate.

The party agents, according to reports could be seen close to polling boots telling voters who they should cast their vote for.

Some other party agents were seen in front of queues collecting and checking people’s PVCs before they were allowed to finally go vote.

One voter told newsmen that the party agent told her the particular candidate she should cast her vote for, but she refused.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) representative at the polling unit when interrogated, claimed ignorance of the happenings was later asked to observe the electoral process.

After the observation, the INEC representative informed party agents that they had no right to check voters’ PVCs before they left the polling unit.
