Inspector-General of Police Mr. Alkali Usman has dispatched four police commissioners to Delta for election-related duties.

The directive was revealed in a statement issued on Friday in Asaba by DSP Bright Edafe, the police spokesperson of the Delta police chapter.

Edafe explained that the deployment was conducted to provide adequate security and effective law enforcement for the state’s general elections.

He stated that CP Mamman Sanda would be in command of Delta-North, while CP John Babangida would be in charge of the election in Delta.

Edafe said CP Zachariah Fera would be in command of Delta-South and CP Adebola Hamzat would be in charge of Delta-Central.

He stated that the police will work with other security agencies to ensure proper protection at polling stations, collation facilities, and INEC headquarters in the state.

He asserted that the Sea Police had also been dispatched to ensure the safety of the waterways and the unhindered movement of polling materials, officials, and voters.

The officer repeated that vehicles are not allowed to move between 12:00 am and 6:00 pm on election day.

”Only officials on emergency and essential duties will be allowed passage during this period”, he said.

”The ban on security escorts for politicians during the election still stands, politicians are advised not to move with their security details on election day.”

The elections will not be open to observation teams or anti-cult volunteers, according to Edafe.

He urged the populace to uphold the law and conduct themselves in a way that would support a transparent and credible election.

Edafe advised the public to contact the police at this number in the event of any issues or grievances: 08036684974, 08125958005, and 09053872287.
