The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is yet to react to the discovery of thousands of Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) reportedly found in a forest in Nnewi, Anambra State.

Naija News reports that reactions have trailed INEC’s silence over the issue of the found PVCs, as analysts say the commission in Anambra State is not up to its functions.

It was gathered from Daily Post that all efforts made to reach out to the INEC spokesperson in Anambra State, Dr Kingsley Agu for comment on the discovered PVCs have proved abortive as he didn’t pick up his calls.

This platform reported on Wednesday that an unidentified Nigerian hunter found thousands of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) in Anambra State.

It was gathered that this is coming amidst the various complaints by many Nigerians who could not find their PVCs with the Independent National Electoral Commission, despite registration.

However, a hunter was said to have discovered thousands of PVCs in a bush at Nnewi North Local Government Area, Anambra State

The hunter took the PVCs to Authority FM radio station in the state and a staff seen in the video expressed displeasure over the development.

However, a staff of the radio station identified as Ikenna, who received the PVCs from the hunter, told Daily Post that the PVCs were later moved to the palace of the Umudim traditional ruler.

Meanwhile, a video was said to have circulated on Wednesday showing the community’s people sorting the cards to try to locate owners whom they knew with reach.

But a public affairs analyst, Ejike Uzo, has faulted INEC in the state for its silence over the issue almost 24 hours after it went viral.

Uzo told Daily Post, “INEC in Anambra is not alive to their functions. PVC is the property of INEC, printed by INEC and meant to be distributed to its owners.

“Now, these cards were printed, and INEC could not get them to the owners, and eventually they found their way into a bush and someone intercepted it, and up till this moment, INEC has not been able to say how the cards left their office to the bush.

“If you ask me, INEC is complicit in this, and their inability to talk to the public is even more embarrassing. It is now the people that are distributing INEC PVCs to its owners, while INEC officials sit and mop.

“This is too bad. INEC in Anambra has questions to answer. That the cards got to Anambra from Abuja before finding their way into the forest shows that INEC in Anambra has questions to answer.”
