Europa League: Juventus To Play Without Chiesa And Pogba

Juventus will go into their Europa League play-off against French side Nantes tonight without Federico Chiesa and Paul Pogba due to fitness issues.

Juventus will take on the French side at 18:45 tonight in the second leg of the Europa League playoff. The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw in Turin on February 16.

Unfortunately, Italian forward Chiesa will miss the second leg at the Stade de la Beaujoire – Louis Fonteneau due to a muscle issue. Recall that he missed Juventus’ Italian Serie A win over Spezia on Sunday.

As for Paul Pogba, the French midfielder who has not played any competitive game for Juventus since he returned to the club from Manchester United last summer, is still battling to fully recover from a knee injury.

According to Italian media, the France midfielder might be included in Juventus’ lineup for their Serie A local derby match against Torino on February 28.

Arkadiusz Milik of Poland, a forward, is also out due to a thigh injury sustained after the previous month.

Due to points deduction for illicit transfer activity in January, Juventus presently sits 12 points outside of the top four in Serie A and has the greatest chance of making the Champions League through the Europa League.

If they fail to win the Europa League this season, the Italian giants will not play in Europe for the first time in nine years next season.
