After meeting with the top four presidential candidates ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Conference of Yoruba Obas has unanimously endorsed the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

Naija News understands that the prominent monarchs from Ekiti, Lagos, Kogi, Kwara, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo States made their stand known after meeting yesterday at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to them, the former Governor of Lagos State is eminently qualified to lead Nigeria after Buhari. Their resolution was made known in a statement made available to newsmen Wednesday evening, which asserted their satisfaction with Tinubu’s presentation during the meeting.

The traditional rulers acknowledged Tinubu’s solid democratic credentials and unwavering commitment to the entrenchment of democracy in Nigeria.

In his remark, the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon and Vice Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chief, Oba Francis Olushola Alao, added that, “The meeting was unique and symbolic towards the unity of Yoruba speaking state because it goes beyond southwest which includes Kogi and Kwara.

“It’s a clear endorsement of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a result of his excellent track record and great achievement which put him above other candidates as the only personality that would bring unity, fairness and justice to the Nigeria system”.

Naija News understands that the first-class kings and chiefs from all the South West States, as well as Yoruba-speaking parts of Kogi and Kwara, affirmed their faith and support for Nigeria’s unity, peace, prosperity and progress as well as pledged to support the democratic process based on free choices according to universal adult suffrage freely exercised by the people.

It could be recalled that the Ooni of Ife, as well as other top monarchs in the region, have met with the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar; New Nigeria Peoples Party’s (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; APC’s Tinubu and Peter Obi of Labour Party.
