Karim Adeyemi To Miss Chelsea Vs Dortmund UCL Clash

Borussia Dortmund’s fast-rising football star, Karim Adeyemi is most likely to miss the Champions League round of 16 return leg against Chelsea on March 7.

On Monday, February 20, the German Bundesliga side announced that Karim Adeyemi will be sidelined for three weeks after sustaining an injury during a league game against Hertha Berlin in Dortmund.

During Dortmund’s 4-1 victory over Hertha Berlin on Sunday, Adeyemi sustained the injury while assisting Donyell Malen on a goal, and he had to be helped off the pitch in tears.

“Karim Adeyemi tore a muscle fiber during Sunday’s game against Hertha Berlin. He will not be available for about three weeks. Get well soon”, a tweet from Borussia Dortmund read.

Adeyemi, who also scored against Hertha before he sustained the injury, has been the talisman for Dortmund so far this season. With his help, Dortmund are tied for first place in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich and Union Berlin on points.

In his last three games, Adeyemi has scored three goals and provided one assist.

With his help a week ago, Dortmund defeated Chelsea in the round of 16 of the Champions League, thanks to his stunning individual goal.

Due to his injury, the summer transfer arrival from Red Bull Salzburg is expected to miss the domestic games against Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig, and Schalke.

A three-week absence would also mean Adeyemi is ruled out of the return leg of Dortmund’s Champions League tie with Chelsea in London.

Note that Dortmund hold a 1-0 advantage after the first leg. A win or draw for the German side would push them to the quarter-finals stage of the competition.
