There was palpable tension in Efurrun, a community in the Uvwie Local Government Council Area of Delta State, after an explosion rocked a gas plant on Monday evening.
The incident reportedly happened at a gas station identified as the NELMIC gas plant, located after Effurun market, opposite the Effurun post office.
Naija News could not ascertain yet what led to the explosion as details of the incident are still sketchy as of the time of filling this report.
However, residents have been calling for help to contain the fire outbreak. Those plying Effurun/Sapele road have been advised to take another route while the inferno caused by the explosion subsidies.
A resident who gave his name as Sunday Musa told newsmen that the gas station went up in flames around 10:30 pm.
” I saw it from far as Ginuwa road, and I suddenly saw huge red flames in the sky that just lasted some seconds and began to wonder what it was. Thanks to God for we have not recorded any casualty,” Musa told Daily Trust.
“What I had was like a thunderous sound, The explosion has completely destroyed the gas plant,” another witness who preferred not to be mentioned in the media said.
