Former LP Governorship Candidate In Kano Defects To APC

The former governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Kano has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) less than six days before the presidential elections.

The former Labour Party governorship candidate in Kano, Bashir Ishaq Bashir did not only resign from the party, he created a movement called ‘Game Changers for Asiwaju/Shettima 2023’.

Not only that, Bashir publicly declared his support and loyalty to the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and denounced Obi.

Before he formally announced his defection from the Labour Party, it was reported that Bashir led his supporters to boycott Obi’s presidential campaign rally at the Kano Pillars stadium on January 22.

While announcing his official resignation from the Labour Party, Bashir said he is moving to the APC with every other LP’s political candidate.

“We shall return to the fold of the All Progressives Congress, and I wish to inform you that we have just finished our Steering Committee meeting where the feedback from our constituencies was deliberated upon”, he said on Sunday.

“The following decisions were made: As a coalition of Labour Party (LP) Gubernatorial, Senatorial, and House of Representatives, House of Assembly Candidates, Chairman and Members of the Presidential Campaign Council, Members of the Gubernatorial Campaign Council, and Zonal and State Coordinators we have decided to endorse the candidature of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“We have also resolved to leverage our existing political structures to work on the mass mobilization of voters and swinging of votes to ensure his (Tinubu’s) emergence as the president of the federal republic of Nigeria in the 2023 presidential election.

“We shall be known as Game Changers for Asiwaju/Shettima 2023. Our slogan is “Sabon Lale”…Swinging the Votes. We shall return to the fold of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Party.”
