Photos from the meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee on the naira redesign policy have surfaced.

Naija News earlier reported that President Buhari met with lawmakers at the council chambers of the Presidential Villa on Thursday morning.

The lawmakers were led to the meeting by the majority leader of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the ad hoc committee, Alhassan Doguwa.

In attendance at the meeting were the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, and the Director General of the Department of State Servicre (DSS), Yusuf Bichi.

Earlier on Thursday, President Buhari announced the extension of the validity on the old N200 notes till April 10.

In a televised nationwide broadcast, the President said the old ₦1,000 and N500 notes remain redeemable at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and designated points.

Buhari said: “To further ease the supply pressures particularly to our citizens, I have given approval to the CBN that the old N200 bank notes be released back into circulation and that it should also be allowed to circulate as legal tender with the new N200, N500, and N1000 banknotes for 60 days from February 10, 2023 to April 10 2023 when the old N200 notes ceases to be legal tender.

“In line with Section 20(3) of the CBN Act 2007, all existing old N1000 and N500 notes remain redeemable at the CBN and designated points.
