The deposed Emir of Kano State, Muhammadu Lamido Sanusi II on Wednesday paid a visit to the state, three years after he was dethroned by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Naija News gathered that Sanui, who was on his way to Dutse, Jigawa State, to pay a condolence visit to the emirate over the recent death of its Emir, Late Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi, stopped in Kano to greet his mother at her residence located along the Ibrahim Dabo Road in Kano metropolis.

Sanusi, the leader of the Tijjaniyyah sect, is also expected to congratulate the new emir, Hameem Nuhu Sanusi.

The 14th Fulani emir of Kano was welcomed by a large crowd of well wishers at the mother’s residence.

The former Emir told The PUNCH that he was in Kano on his way to Dutse, because of bad weather he could not fly directly to Jigawa State, which made him stop over in Kano.

He said: “I couldn’t go directly to Jigawa State because of bad weather, and as I touched down in Kano, hundreds of people stormed the place and asked me to at least go and greet my mother which I did.”

Sanusi said as a citizen he has the right to go anywhere in Nigeria, adding that there was also a court judgement that allows him to visit any state he wants in the country.
