Heavyweight challenger Jermaine Franklin will take on former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua on April 1 at London’s 02 Arena with the hope of knocking him out.

Last November at Wembley Arena, Jermaine Franklin lost a close 12-round decision to Dillian Whyte, and many commentators thought the American should have won or at the very least earned a draw.

Ahead of the bout between him and Joshua, the American boxer claimed that Whyte had an unfair advantage against him because Whyte had won the bulk of the fight’s decisions.

Franklin is now facing a much more well-known opponent than Whyte, therefore he doesn’t want to take any chances by allowing his bout with Joshua to be decided by judges.

On the other hand, Joshua, a Nigerian-born British boxer, wants to fight Franklin to win back his career after losing to champion Oleksandr Usyk twice successively. He has enlisted the assistance of renowned trainer Derrick James to help him return to his peak.

Despite that, Jermaine Franklin has stressed the need to dominate the bout between him and the British boxer to avoid the scenario that occurred in his fight against Whyte.

“I’m trying to knock Joshua out. I know I’m probably not going to get a fair shake over here. That’s our mentality, kill. I don’t want to sh*t on anybody, but we’ve already kind of been through that. We kind of just got through that situation,” Franklin told IFL TV.

“Honestly, because I won the last fight on points. The CompuBox numbers say I outpunched him in almost every round, by four rounds and they gave him the fight. I feel like I’m in a position where I have to knock him out or dominate the whole fight, extremely dominate the whole fight.”
