Nigerian-born British boxer, Anthony Joshua, has admitted that money remains his biggest motivation because he knows what it means to be poor.

Ahead of his fight with Jermaine Franklin at the O2 Arena in London, Anthony Joshua insisted that he would make as much money as possible while he is still relevant in the sport.

The former two-time unified heavyweight champion is ready to restart his career by defeating Franklin on April 1 after suffering back-to-back defeats to champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Joshua has a fortune of £38 million, according to Forbes, as a result of his dominance in boxing during his ten years as a professional.

During a press conference to promote his fight with Franklin, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn questioned Joshua about what was motivating him at this pivotal time in his career.

“Money,” Joshua responded. “I like making money. Straight up. Like, this is a prizefighting sport.

“I’ve been broke. My family has been broken. I know what this sh*t means and I do it because I’m good at it and I hustle hard.

“When it’s all said and done no one will care about me no more. So, I’ve got to make the most of it while I’m here.”

Derrick James is Joshua’s new trainer as he recently moved to Texas to prepare for the forthcoming bout with Franklin and other potential fights.

Joshua may fight Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, or perhaps former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou if he defeats Franklin and returns to winning ways.
