Over 200 Gunmen Storm Bauchi Market, Injure Many, Kill One

Gunmen have reportedly stormed a market in Bauchi State, attacked many and killed one.

The dire incident occurred in Wunti Market.

According to the Senior Special Adviser to the Bauchi State Governor, Umar Aliyu Shayi, the suspected thugs were armed to the teeth with cutlasses, sticks, knives and other sharp objects

Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday, Shayi said the miscreants numbering over 200 in number used force to snatch cell phones, cash and other valuables from innocent people.

He said, “My attention was called to what was happening and I immediately mobilised my men and waylaid them at the Wunti roundabout, they were over 200 holding dangerous weapons but we were able to arrest 25 of them as you can see here.

“These miscreants you are seeing here were arrested while using force to snatch cell phones, cash and other valuables from innocent people inside the Wunti market.

“They had entered the stadium, venue of the PDP presidential campaign, terrorised the people by snatching cell phones and bags just as they injured many people with the dangerous weapons they held.”

Shayi, who is also the Commander of Bauchi State Vigilante and Youth Empowerment Agency, said, “At the end of the rally, they stormed the nearby Wunti market with the intention of robbing the marketers and other people inside the market.”
