Alfa Romeo Becomes First Formula 1 Team To Unveil 2023 Design

Alfa Romeo became the first Formula 1 team to unveil their 2023 design as they intend to build on their recent achievements.

Alfa Romeo, a Swiss team, advanced from ninth in the 2021 championship to sixth last year in its final year of participation with the Alfa Romeo brand.

The freshly revised back end of the new C43 is the primary focus of its increased aerodynamics.

The 2023 model was displayed by lead driver Bottas and teammate Zhou Guanyu as this year’s model will be tested for the first time at the Circuit of Barcelona-Catalunya on Friday and Saturday.

Some of the design cues were inspired by Red Bull’s strategy in 2022, which saw them win a world championship and a second one with one of the most dominant campaigns in the history of Formula One. This came about as a result of significant rule changes made before last year.

The form of the side-pods, which appear to have been influenced by Red Bull in terms of how they funnel airflow to the rear, is particularly obvious in this regard.

Alfa Romeo’s technical director Jan Monchaux said: “We concentrated mainly on the rear part of the car, which opened the door to a lot of other developments we could not use last season.

“It was also clear we had a lot of reliability issues, so there are a lot of things we changed on the car to address that topic.”

Alessandro Alunni Bravi, a representative of the team, and Monchaux, one of the four executives of the group under new CEO Andreas Seidl, are both part of the new management structure that was unveiled last month.

The team, formerly known as Sauber, is currently being acquired by Audi. Hence, their Alfa Romeo branding will be taken off after this season.
