Presidential Tribunal: 'Peter Obi, Atiku, Kwankwaso Plan Alliance To Take Power From APC'

The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has said it would soon announce its presidential preference ahead of the February 25 election.

Naija News reports that ECWA President, Rev. Dr. Stephen Baba Panya, stated this on Tuesday at the church’s 2023 extraordinary General Church Council (GCC).

Panya stated that the church would choose its presidential preference based on its conviction following careful analysis of all the flagbearers.

He said the church had been following closely the programmes and proclamations of the major presidential candidates and would soon take a position on the person to support.

He said: “The church had been watching, monitoring, and listening to all the candidates and would take decision according to its conviction soon.”

The ECWA President appreciated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, for paying attention to what the church was doing and sending eminent political leaders to grace the GCC meeting.

Speaking at the event, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, who represented Atiku, claimed that northern Christians had already declared support for the former Vice President.

Atiku encouraged Nigerians of different religious backgrounds to live in peace and harmony, stressing that a divided country will Nigerians in darkness.

Dogara apologized for the absence of Atiku and his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, who were in Ekiti State for the PDP nationwide presidential rally.

He said, “Do not waste your votes by casting them elsewhere. We believe very strongly in coming together and living together. The Muslim- Muslim ticket is not an option at all. It does not give room for mutual understanding, unity, peace and stability.

“Atiku has great respect for northern Christians, hence, his choice of a Christian to deputise for him. We know him as a good man, who has contributed in building the brethren and the church, even as a Muslim. He does not segregate and his experience and abilities speak for him all the time.

“This period of gross darkness hovering over the nation must be overcome. We keep surviving one catastrophe and jumping to the other. Darkness is an evidence of the absence of light. We must lighten our lights and let them shine.

“Atiku remains the pan-Nigerian candidate that has what it takes to move this nation forward by uniting us across the various divides we have found ourselves. Based on the scientific analysis inclusive of CAN leadership, we arrived at the choice of this man as a candidate to beat in the coming elections.”
