Dino Melaye Accuses Tinubu Of Sponsoring Atiku’s Former Aide, Michael Achimugu To Blackmail Him
An allegation has been levelled against the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu accusing him of sponsoring a former aide of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar, identified as Michael Achimugu.
Naija News reports that the spokesman and Director of Public Affairs of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Dino Melaye has alleged that Tinubu was sponsoring Achimugu to blackmail his principal, Atiku.
According to Melaye, Achimugu was never an aide to the PDP flag bearer, therefore, the allegation he levelled against the former vice president should be dismissed.
Naija News reported on January 9 that Achimugu, a former media aide to the Atiku made some heavy allegations against the politician.
Achimugu opened up about Atiku’s grand corruption, promising that there is more to come in subsequent videos he plans to release.
Achimugu urged Nigerians not to vote for Atiku for the sake of their children and grandchildren, warning Atiku’s attack dogs not to pursue him because there are “affidavits of facts” that would be released if such should happen.
In the first of a series of videos released on his YouTube channel on Sunday, Achimugu revealed Atiku’s explanation for the N100 million allegedly paid into his account by former Plateau State Governor Joshua Dariye.
Achimugu’s allegations have since stirred up a controversy as Tinubu’s campaign council has called for the arrest and prosecution of Atiku for alleged money laundering and a breach of the penal and criminal code.
However, Naija News understands that Melaye while reacting to the allegation on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Monday claimed that “Mike (Achimugu) is being sponsored by the APC, Mike is being sponsored by Bola Ahmed Tinubu and that is why they need to follow up for the project they started in Mike. Mike is not a media aide of Atiku Abubakar.
“The letters he brought online which Festus (Keyamo) is referring to are letters from support groups. It does not have the mandate of Atiku Abubakar, it is not from our campaign council and those letters were written by people that have no close ties with Atiku Abubakar.”
He further accused the APC of orchestrating “lies from the pit of hell” having realised that Atiku is a “leading presidential candidate” for the February 25 presidential election.
The PDP chieftain maintained that his principal remains the most investigated Nigerian as of today but has never been indicted or tried for corruption by any court in the country.
Melaye, who labelled Achimugu as a “blackmailer” who has three ongoing cases of blackmail in court, said neither he nor anybody from the PDP Presidential Campaign Council would again comment on the issue as they intend to focus on more serious issues concerning the upcoming election.
