Freedom For Nnamdi Kanu Is A Condition For Peace In The South East - Ogah

The Archbishop of Enugu Province and Bishop of Enugu Diocese Anglican Communion, Most Rev Emmanuel Chukwuma has asked the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to release the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Addressing newsmen on Saturday at press conference at the Bishop’s Court Independent Layout, Enugu, to mark the celebration of his 69th Birthday, Chukwuma also called on Nigerians to use the opportunity of the February and March elections to change the cause of the country by voting in men and women of sound character, vision and positive mission to move Nigeria out of insecurity and poverty.

The popular cleric said releasing IPOB’s Nnamdi Kanu would definitely bring down tension in the Southeast

He said: “I am praying that as we celebrate this birthday, that Christians must intensify their prayers for a better Nigeria and a peaceful Nigeria. I am also praying that this election will be free and fair.

“More importantly, I want to pray that Nnamdi Kanu should be released so that at least we can have peace. Releasing him will douse tension in the Southeast. Nobody should say that releasing him will cause confusion. We appeal that we will be very much ready to put everything on check.”

Release Nnamdi Kanu To Me, I Will Be His Surety – Soludo Pleads With Buhari

The Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo on Saturday pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

This comes days after the Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu vowed to stand as surety for Kanu if President decides to release him.

Just like Kalu offered, Soludo also vowed to act as surety for the IPOB leader.

Kanu is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Soludo while speaking at the rally of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Akwa, Anambra emphasised the importance of involving all stakeholders in the security situation in the South-East.

He said, “I now want to appeal and plead and request and demand of the Federal Government and our able president led by President Buhari that a critical person [is] required around that table for that conversation to be complete for us to have an all-round approach to dealing with the issue of insecurity and discussing the future of the South-East.

“That person – and we need him urgently around the table, please release him to us – and that is Nnamdi Kanu. I’m calling on the Federal Government to please release Nnamdi Kanu.”
