Governor Aminu Tambuwal of  Sokoto State has revealed the reason for his silence on the crisis rocking the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Naija News reports that five aggrieved governors of the party, identified as the G-5, have been in a battle with the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

Members of the G-5 include the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Uguwanyi (Enugu), and Seyi Makinde (Oyo).

In a chat with reporters last Friday, Tambuwal said he has kept silent on the rift between his colleagues and the PDP leadership because he does not want the issue to escalate.

Tambuwal added that he does not want to speculate on the alleged meeting between the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and the G-5 in London last December.

The Sokoto governor, who is the Director General of the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization, asserted that political engineering or negotiation is not a war of attrition but that of dialogue.

Tambuwal added that the party would act when five aggrieved governors announce their preferred presidential candidate.

He said: “My five good colleagues that are in G-5, you see I have always been saying that political engineering or negotiation is not a war of attrition and I will not speculate. In this our business, whenever you are cooking, even if you try to hide it, it will still come out.

“This is because you cannot plan and execute a political project in your bedroom. You must come out with it. So when my colleagues resolve on what to do, that is when the party will respond on whatever position they have taken, I will not speculate on that.”
