‘Circumstances Forced Ooni Of Ife Into Marrying Six Wives’ – Monarch’s Sister Opens Up

Princess Folashade Ogunwusi-Fadairo, the elder sister of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has opened up on the decision of his brother to go into polygamy after his marriage with prophetess Naomi Silekunola crashed.

Naija News recalls that in 2022, the Ooni engaged in a wedding spree as he married six wives within a period of three months and there are speculations that he had secretly taken a seventh wife.

However, Folashade during an interview with PUNCH said their family members are strict Christians but circumstances forced the Ooni of Ife into polygamy.

According to her, the first-class Yoruba monarch didn’t like polygamy, however, he had no choice but to marry more than one wife because of his kingship status.

She said: My opinion is that what you have to do, you just have to do it. Meanwhile, that’s his personal life, I can’t meddle in it. What I can say is that I don’t know if you were there during his wedding anniversary or so, if you heard the speech he made, it was very touching and it was something that personally he didn’t like but he had no choice, he had to do it.
