Due to a knee injury, Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek will miss the remainder of the 2022-2023 season.

The 25-year-old international from the Netherlands, Donny van de Beek, last game for United came on January 3 against Bournemouth.

Near the end of the first half of that game, he was substituted due to fitness issues.

Initially, most of his followers thought the Netherlands international who missed the Qatar World Cup due to fitness issues would be fit before the end of the season.

Unfortunately, his club’s coach, Erik ten Hag confirmed on Friday that he will remain sidelined for the rest of the season.

Erik ten Hag said: “On the long term it is looking really good, he will be back for the start of pre-season.

“The rest of the season he is out…

“I think everyone’s thoughts are with him. It is terrible when you are in a season and you get a bad tackle, or a bad injury.

“It is always really disappointing and thoughts, feelings are with the player. You express that, our group did that really well, and we are now happy his knee in the long term is good.

“At the same moment, mixed feelings. Disappointed he is out of this season.

“The players are feeling we are building something good and we want to be part of it and everyone wants to be part of it.”

Naija News recalls that Van de Beek signed a five-year deal with United for £35 million, plus £5 million in add-ons in 2020. Since then, the Dutchman has played in 60 games in which he scored two goals and provided two assists.

On Saturday, at 12:30 GMT, Manchester United are scheduled to play a Manchester derby with their local rivals Manchester City.
