Jigawa Gov Unveils Plan To Create 150 Millionaires In First Tenure

The Supreme Court has on Friday cleared the Jigawa State incumbent Deputy Governor, Umar Namadi to contest in the 2023 governorship election of the state.

Naija News reports that the apex court affirmed Namadi as the rightful governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The Supreme Court in unanimous judgment prepared by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun upheld the party’s May 26 primary election which produced Namadi as the winner.

An appeal filed by a former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Farouk Adamu Aliyu was dismissed by the court in its judgment delivered by Justice Ibrahim Saulawa.

The five justices of the court who heard the case unanimously agreed that it lacked merit and substance.

” The appellant (Mr Aliyu) failed to prove the declarative reliefs he sought. This appeal lacks merit and it is hereby dismissed,” Justice Saulawa said

It is learnt that Namadi, through his counsel, Prince Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi (SAN), had won the legal battle at the Federal High Court in Dutse as well as at the Court of Appeal in Kano.

The Supreme Court’s judgement, therefore, is said to have put an end to the long legal battle on the governorship ticket of the APC in the state.
