Arsenal have stunned virtually everyone in the football world so far in the 2022-2023 Premier League season. Hence, the north London derby on Sunday against Tottenham is a chance for the Gunners to prove a point.

Since 2015, Arsenal are yet to defeat Tottenham Hotspur away from home. Interestingly, Arsenal which have been enjoying a smooth run in the Premier League will travel to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium to test how improved they are.

Note that in 17 Premier League games this season, the Gunners have recorded 14 wins, two draws, and just a defeat. This outstanding performance has left coach Mikel Arteta and his boys in the top spot on the league table with 44 points in 17 games, five points above second-placed Manchester City.

Ahead of Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur north London derby scheduled to kick off at 17:30 on Sunday, Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta admitted that he and his team have a point to prove against Spurs.

Arteta and boys defeated Spurs 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium in the first north London derby of the season but that is not enough to prove that the Gunners have arrived. They have to beat Spurs at Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Sunday to end their seven years wait for an away win in the derby.

Coach Mikel Arteta said: “The way that we have performed and the results that got confidence-wise has put us in a good position, but that is something that you have to show every match and every opponent, especially every away game brings challenges and this is no different.

“We are going to have to go there, play our way, and win the match.”

A win for Arsenal in the north London derby will keep their five points gap at the top of the table intact. While 5th placed Spurs will keep their hope of finishing in the top four alive if they can beat the Gunners in the derby.
