3. 2023: Major Setback As Court Sacks Elisha Abbo As APC Candidate

Ahead of the forthcoming election, the Senator Representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Elisha Abbo, has been sacked from seeking re-election by a Yola High Court, presided over by Justice Mohammed Danladi on Tuesday.

Naija News learnt that the latest development was due to the Senator’s expulsion from the All Progressives Congress (APC) by his ward in Mubi North local government area of Adamawa.

Recall that the Mubi North LG executive of the party had on October 7, 2022, approved the expulsion of Abbo as recommended by the party’s disciplinary committee.

Justice Danladi held that the APC Senatorial candidate for Adamawa North senatorial zone and his party are bound by the resolution of the Mubi North Local government chapter’s executive expelling him from the party.

The court also averred that Senator Abbo is not entitled to enjoy any right or privilege accorded to APC members.

The court further restrained APC under which the Senator is seeking re-election from recognizing him as its candidate, saying that he cannot validly be the candidate of the party.

Justice Abimbola on Monday declared that prolonged detention was a breach of people’s constitutional rights, reiterating that the stand of the law is that a “person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.”

The CJ made this declaration at the Agodi Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service, which he visited, as part of a three-day tour of prisons within the state.

Reacting to the President’s comments, the National President of MBF, Dr. Bitrus Pogu, said Buhari has failed woefully to deliver his promise to completely eliminate Boko Haram from the country.

In a series of tweets, Michael dared the former vice president’s camp to sue him over his allegations against their principal.

“If I am a fraud, take me to court. I was no fraud when I was working for your principal. I was no fraud when I bore insults for him and made sacrifices.

“Not Atiku people calling me a fraud. Unbelievable. Those who did so before now ran away when it was time to prove their allegations. If you think this strategy will help you, bring it on. Prove me a fraudster and I will go away with tails between my legs,” he tweeted.

The Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu has defended the health status of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

Speaking further, the Senator submitted that Tinubu’s health is nothing to be worried about as the former Lagos Governor is fit and healthy both physically and mentally.

To buttress his point, the Senator submitted that there is no Nigerian above forty years old that is not sick.

Naija News reports he made the claim during an appearance on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm.
