Miami Heat Defeats OKC In A Record-Breaking NBA Game

Miami Heat defeated Oklahoma City Thunder 112-111 thanks to a record-breaking free-throw shooting performance from Jimmy Butler.

Breaking Utah’s record of 39-for-39 against Portland in 1982, Miami succeeded in all 40 of their free throw attempts.

The second-highest amount of free throws attempted in a game without a miss belongs to Butler and Dominique Wilkins, both with 23.

With less than a minute left in the game, Miami was down 111-106 but rallied with a three-pointer from Victor Oladipo and a layup from Butler to equalize the score.

Then Butler continued his flawless performance at the foul line to put the Heat ahead and break an NBA record.

We’ve been a very good free-throw shooting team all year, but that’s crazy,” said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra.

“I didn’t realize we hadn’t missed a free throw.”

In other NBA games, as Stephen Curry and Joel Embiid made their injury comebacks on Tuesday, they experienced quite different outcomes.

Curry scored 24 points, including five three-pointers, for the Golden State Warriors in his return from an 11-game absence due to a shoulder injury.

However, the Phoenix Suns, whose Mikal Bridges led all scorers with 26 points, defeated the defending champions 125-113 at home.

The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Detroit Pistons 147-116 despite Embiid missing three games due to a foot injury. He scored 36 points in just 23 minutes of action.
