Gunmen Kidnap First Class Chief, Wife In Nasarawa

Some family members have been reportedly kidnapped as gunmen attack a community in Abuja on Wednesday morning.

Reports reaching Naija News claimed that one person was killed in the early morning attack. The incident reportedly happened in Ushafa, a community in the Bwari Area Council.

A community member confirmed to Daily Post that the gunmen stormed the area in the wee hour of the day, shooting sporadically.

The resident, who revealed his name as James Olachi, disclosed to journalists that the incident happened behind the LGEA Primary School Ushafa, close to the popular Going-Park.

James told reporters that the assailants operated in the area for over half an hour without interruption from any security agency.

According to him, the deceased, known as Adegoke, struggled with the gun-wielding kidnappers before being overpowered and gunned down.

Naija News learnt that the assailants whisked away the wife and a cousin of the deceased to an unknown destination.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command has yet to confirm the incident as of reporting time.

Four Killed As Gunmen Attack Anambra Community

Meanwhile, at least four people were reportedly killed on Tuesday evening when unknown gunmen stormed Nzomiwu Street in the Eziani community, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Naija News learnt that the assailants invaded the community yesterday, shooting aimlessly and killing the victims; three males and a female said to be pregnant.

Sources who confirmed the incident to The PUNCH said the target of the gunmen could not be ascertained yet as they only came in shooting into the air and immediately fled the scene after killing the victims.

Confirming the attack in a press statement, the state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the bodies of the victims had been deposited at the mortuary.

Ikenga said, “Police/military operations have been intensified in Ihiala and its neighbouring town as operatives responded to a distress call in the early hours of Tuesday on Nzomiwu Street, Eziani, Ihiala, recovered lifeless bodies, three males and one female at the scene.

“Preliminary information revealed that the criminal elements armed with Ak47, started shooting indiscriminately and unprovoked; unfortunately, bullets hit four unarmed civilians. The bodies have been deposited in the morgue.”
