Yobe APC Rally: Tinubu Unveils Plans For ASUU, Nigerian Universities
APC Presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu in Yobe State

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, said on Tuesday that if elected as Nigeria’s next president his administration will ensure stability in the university system.

The former Governor of Lagos State assured that he would address the challenges of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) if he is voted in the 2023 presidential election.

Naija News reports that Tinubu gave the assurance today while addressing his supporters at the APC presidential campaign rally in Damaturu, Yobe State capital.

The presidential hopeful boasted that incessant strikes by the ASUU would be a thing of the past as his administration would ensure total stability in the country’s university system.

Tinubu also pledged to provide loans for university students. The APC flag bearer said he would provide agro-credit facilities and make the Northeast region an export zone.

“I will extend the credit facilities to university students as loans. I will make our education system, especially the university education, more stable by dealing with the problem of ASUU strikes. There will be no more strikes in our universities,” he said at the APC rally in Damaturu.

2023: I Am Contesting As A Nigerian, Biafra War Stopped 52 Years Ago – Peter Obi Clears Air

Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has come out to clear the air about contesting as a Nigerian and not as a Biafra agitator.

The former Governor of Anambra State said he is running for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a Nigerian.

Obi cleared the air that he wasn’t contesting in support of any Biafra agitation because, according to him Biafra war stopped existing about 52 years ago, and it has remained so for him.

Naija News reports that the Labour Party flag bearer stated this when he was featured on Brekete Family Show in Abuja on Monday.

Obi was reacting to the backdrop of the agitation of the sovereign state of Biafra, which is popular among some sections of the South East region.

Obi submitted on the programme that agitation for self-determination happens in Nigeria because of injustice suffered by people, and he pledged to engage in dialogue with aggrieved groups if elected as the president at next month’s polls.

He noted that “Biafra war ceased to exist about 52 years ago and it remains so. I am a Nigerian. I am contesting as a Nigerian.

“I’ve said that those who are agitating, be it those who are agitating in South-West, South-East or in the North. There is agitation everywhere because of the injustice, unfairness, marginalisation, poverty, call it any name. People are bound to agitate.

“I said I will consult and discuss with all of them (agitators). A new Nigeria is what I want to build and people will be proud. That’s why I said, I will solve the problems of the North, South-West. I want Nigerians to move around with their passports proud that they are Nigerians.”
