In regards to contacting the Belgian FA over the open role of national team manager, Thierry Henry has firmly denied doing so.

Roberto Martinez, the former coach of the Belgium national team and the boss of Thierry Henry, has been named the new head coach of Portugal national team.

On March 24, in the first of their ten Euro 2024 qualifying matches, Belgium will travel to Sweden. Hence, the country must name a head coach as soon as possible.

Before now, Henry served as an assistant manager to Roberto Martinez in the Belgium team. But the Spanish tactician stepped down after the Red Devils were eliminated from the 2022 World Cup group stage in Qatar in December.

Former striker Henry, who previously played for Arsenal and Barcelona, has reportedly applied for the position, according to reports in Belgium.

Henry, however, clarified the situation by adamantly stating that he has not made any approach.

In an interview with Sky Sports on Tuesday, Thierry Henry said: “I would like to make it abundantly clear that contrary to written reports, I have never contacted the Belgian FA offering my services as the new first team coach.

“I think it’s vital that the truthful version of facts is always presented.”
