Newcastle United have insisted that they are still interested in Youssoufa Moukoko but they are yet to make any approach for his services contrary to reports.

The deal of Youssoufa Moukoko at Dortmund will expire in the summer, so he is now free to engage with European clubs in preparation for a potential move from the German club at the end of the current campaign.

Two Premier League clubs, Chelsea and Newcastle United, are heavily interested in his services.

Recently, reports went viral that Newcastle United has made a verbal approach for the services of Moukoko.

Newcastle reportedly agreed to pay Moukoko more than £150,000 a week in wages, according to reports in England.

Before now, Dortmund has been attempting to persuade the young player to pledge his future to them, but they have not been able to satisfy his wage demands to date.

Nevertheless, Newcastle has informed Sportsmail that rumors of a verbal approach for Moukoko are untrue.

Although they haven’t increased their interest just yet, the club still has a strong interest in the forward.

Newcastle has not added any players to their roster so far in the January transfer window because they are being cautious to follow Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

However, with the team making significant progress on the field under coach Eddie Howe this season, adding Moukoko on a free transfer this summer would be a sign of intent.

With six goals in 14 Bundesliga games this season, Moukoko proved himself worthy of a spot on the German World Cup team in Qatar and will certainly be a great addition to any elite club this year.
