Hajiya Zainab Auwal Yadudu, the wife of the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, Prof. Auwalu Yadudu, has reportedly died.

Naija News understands that the deceased’s husband was a former legal adviser to the late former ruler of Nigeria, General Sani Abacha.

Reports on Monday noon claimed that Hajiya Yadudu passed away on Sunday at a United States (US) hospital where she was been treated for an undisclosed sickness.

Prof. Yadudu confirmed the demise of his wife in a terse statement sent to a revered professor at the Bayero University Kano, Kano State, on Monday.

According to him, the woman with whom he had spent over four decades, died in the hospital while reciting Kalimah Ashshhada.

He noted that arrangements are underway to bring her body to Nigeria for the funeral.

“From Allah we are and to him we shall return. Allah Has recalled the gift He has bestowed on us. AlhamduliLlah, Zainab Auwalu YADUDU has just passed away peacefully and with Kalimah Ashshahada on her lips on 8th January 2023 at the University of Kentucky Hospital, USA, at 12.52 noon surrounded by family. We are making arrangements to bring her body to Nigeria for funeral and will communicate details when they become clear, insha’Allah,” Daily Trust quoted the statement from the bereaved husband.

One Killed As Police, Hoodlums Clash In Ojota, Lagos

There was pandemonium in the Ojota area of Lagos on Monday morning after some hoodlums reportedly engaged in a shootout, Naija News reports.

Reports claimed that the fight started between suspected hoodlums and residents of the area.

It was further revealed that the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), a detachment of the Lagos State Police Command, were deployed to Ojota immediately to restore calmness.

However, photos and videos emerging from the scene show that a casualty was recorded. It was claimed that a civilian was shot dead when members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and operatives of the police engaged in a physical clash.
